Uruguay have earned 9 points so far in the South American 2018 World-Cup Qualifiers and sit just behind leaders Ecuador, and ahead of Chile, Paraguay and Brazil. The top four nations will qualify directly to the finals, while the fifth placed-team will play an intercontinental playoff against the winner of the Oceania region.

Uruguay beat Colombia and Chile 3-0 at home. They also won against Bolivia in La Paz for the first time in the WC Qualifiers history, but lost against Ecuador in Quito. Six players have been in the scoresheet: Diego Godín (3), Martín Cáceres (2), Diego Rolan (1), Álvaro Pereira (1), Edinson Cavani (1) and Abel Hernández (1).

So far 21 players have played in the 2018 Russia WC Qualifiers. Fernando Muslera have played 360 minuted each, and along them, five other players have been part of all four games: Carlos Sánchez, Martín Cáceres, Diego Rolan, Álvaro Pereira and Nicolás Lodeiro.
